On May 10, 2024, the Commission for Personal Data Protection completed practical training (15 academic hours) for students in the “Law” and “International Relations” specialties at the Faculty of Law and History of South-West University “Neofit Rilski” under the academic mentorship of Assoc. Dr. Yordanka Noneva-Zlatkova.
The heads of the respective specialized directorates introduced the students to the activities and organization of the Commission for Personal Data Protection. The presentation emphasized the proceedings before the CPD, along with current and emerging developments related to artificial intelligence, automated decision-making, and the e-privacy directive. Specific case studies on the practical application of cooperation and consistency mechanisms, as well as the overall work of the European Data Protection Board, engaged the young participants’ attention. Career opportunities for our students at the CPD were also addressed.
The president of the CPDL awarded certificates to the participating students for successfully completing the practical training. Mr. Hristo Alaminov, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Project Management at the CPML, presented the certificates, alongside Dr. Avgustin Yanchev, Senior Expert at the Directorate of Legal-Analytical, Information, and Control Activities.
The practical training was a natural continuation of the student’s study course “Personal Data Protection in the EU and Third Countries” under project № 101047808, entitled “European Data Protection: post-pandemic effects and new dimensions” (EDP-PPEND). This project is implemented with the financial support of the Erasmus+ Programme 2021-2027, an action under the Jean Monnet initiative in higher education.
